Our company’s measurable growth is in no small part due to our team members in North Carolina, Arkansas, Illinois, and Missouri, who each have a seat at the table to contribute to our success The Production Superintendent assists the Operations Manager with evaluation and input regarding current processing methods and equipment.
Also, will assist in the implementation of new processing methods, systems, and equipment.
The Production Superintendent will have overall responsibility of managing, planning, and directing the production of products in various areas to produce products safely and consistent with quality specifications.
This position will manage front-line supervisors within the department and coordinate activities of the department to meet production needs and ensure an efficient and safe operation.
Will ensure that the department operates within compliance with HACCP, USDA and OSHA and ensure associates comply with facility safety rules and company policies.
Responsibilities: Manage the daily manufacturing operation of all areas assigned.
Ensure production goals and standards are met.
Ensuring safety of associates and quality of product.
Ensure all quality and regulatory standards, specifications and policies are met or exceeded.
Confer with Operations Manager and Production Scheduler to confirm production schedule for their areas of responsibility.
Confer with USDA and QA as needed about issues with their area of responsibility.
Ensure maximum use of department’s available capacity and effective use of labor, tools, and equipment.
Maintain optimum line speeds, efficient crewing, proficient yields, and have accountabilities for all variances.
Review and analyze production reports to ensure achievement of safety, quality and product cost efficiency goals are met or exceeded.
Monitors to ensure that appropriate production records, safety reports, and HR reports are completed and maintained as necessary.
Review all costs, identifying and implementing necessary operation all changes to manage cost and remain within budget.
Essential Functions: Develop and report key performance indicators for department.
Coordinate production requirements with maintenance and engineering to maximize line efficiency and minimize downtime.
Actively participate in Safety, QA, and Human Resources initiatives to include: Monthly Safety Departmental meetings, Accident Investigations, Monthly Topic Training, GMP Training and Audits, etc.
Ensure these activities are being conducted in the areas for which they are responsible.
Ensure that associates are evaluated and counseled regarding job performance, attendance, etc.
Mange objective of improving overall department performance.
Coach, Mentor and Develop Supervisors to improve overall performance.
Manage the daily operation in the absence of the Department Supervisor.
Collaborate with Human Resources in Recruiting and Retention efforts.
Attend leadership classes to enhance management skills and knowledge.
Perform all other duties as necessary to ensure efficiency of operation.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities: Basic knowledge of the Food Manufacturing Industry Knowledge of USDA Regulations and Requirements Basic knowledge of OSHA Regulations Basic knowledge of Human Resources principles and employment law Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills Strong computer application skills including the utilization of mainframe, network, and PC business application software.
Education & Experience: BS degree in Business, Poultry, Animal or Food Science.
3+ Years of related field or equivalent training and experience required.
3+ Years relevant experience in a Supervisory or higher-level management role is required.
3+ Years Poultry or Meat Processing plant experience is preferred.
